How to set-up your Windows network for Biscount.
Networking Windows is usually straightforward.
Biscount Software provides this information as a service to assist customers networking their computers, however support for network installation and problems for Microsoft products is not free.
The following network terms are used in this document.
Server Computer: This is the computer that contains/will contain the Biscount data.
Workstation Computer: The other computer that do not contain Biscount data as they access the Server for data via the network.
Sharing: means letting other computers on the network use the hard drives and printers on a computer.
1. Install your network card into each computer. Windows should find the new hardware device and will prompt you for the driver for the network card. The driver is usually provided on a floppy disc that is supplied with the network card.
2. Once the network card has been installed, you need to set the network in Windows on every computer.
3. Click on the Start icon, then click on "Settings" then the 'Control Panel' folder. Finally, double-click on the Network icon.
4. You will see certain entries in the 'Components' section. You can install other components than suggested but these are necessary.
Click on the OK/Close button, Windows will prompt you for the Windows CD. Make sure you have it handy. Once loaded, Windows will restart. Repeat this on all machines on the network.
On the Server computer:
1. Open the 'My Computer' icon.
2. Right-click on the C-Drive icon then left click on 'Sharing'
3. Click on the "Shared As' radio button. Leave the share name. Click on the 'Full' Access' radio button in the middle of the windows. Don't input a password, then click 'Apply'

Make a note of the Drive letter (you'll need it later for Biscount), ensure that the 'Reconnect at logon' tick box has a tick in it and then Select OK.
2. Run Biscount. Click the 'Run in Demo/Trial Mode' button. Then select Utilities, the select Reset paths. Answer 'Yes' to reset the paths. Biscount prompts you for a password. The password is NET
3. Answer 'No' to the question ' Is this the Server'
4. To the question 'The data files are on what drive', input the drive letter (and only the letter) that you made a note of when Mapping the C-drive on the Server in step 1. Press enter or select OK
5. To the question, 'Input drive for programmes' input C and press enter. Biscount will shut down. Run Biscount again and Biscount will be reading the data from the Server.
